Below is a device that greatly eases dog-toenail clipping. Specifically, it is a thimble (100) that fits over the shear(22) and adjacent parts of a Resco clipper (20). The thimble is secured by a tiny dab of gum (24) under the rear edge.

It helps place a toenail in the shear and limits the length of toenail sheared

Instructions:

The 3-D printer produces eight versions of the clipper guide. You will probably use only one favorite or two. There are two opposite orientations (right-side up and upside down), each with four cutting lengths (3, 4, 5, and 6 mm) – identified by 3, 4, 5 and 6 pips on the flat area. I prefer the 4 pips, and I can’t decide on a preferred orientation.
